If you remember in the past receiving new mortgage payment statements from banks or companies that you never heard of before and wondering if you should send the payment to them, well thankfully, the practice of transferring loans without notice to you, the borrower, has come to an end. Borrowers must now be notified whenever ownership of their mortgage loan has been transferred. This requirement was imposed by the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act of 2009.
